Geometric pattern Midi Dress | Mansur Gavriel Circle handbag Posted by Vivellefashion

Welcome back Lovelies! I hope you had a fulfilling week, and safe Memorial day celebration. Memorial day marks the unofficial beginning of the summer season…yaiii!

Today, I’m talking geometric prints and styling this geometric pattern midi dress + circle handbag. No, there won’t be a test afterward, hehe. I have to confess, geometry was not my strongest topic in high school. However, in fashion I dare to say, I stand out in geometric prints/patterns. Geometric prints are fun and exciting. Geometric patterns are bold prints that make for a very stylish vibe, they are also eye catchers. Because geometric prints are bold and call for attention, if getting attention is not your thing, incorporating these patterns in minimal pieces like skirts, tops or accessories are the way to go.

Geometric pattern Midi Dress + Circle handbag (OOTD)

This chic and sophisticated geometric pattern midi dress was custom made…my sister in-law had it made and sent to me. While I have had it for quite sometime now, this is the first time I have worn it…it got shoved to the back of my closet, as a few other things have been, until now. Although the dress has a simple cut, the simplicity is offset, quite nicely by the bold geometric pattern of the fabric, thus creating a balance in the created silhouette.

Styling was easy, as the dress speaks for itself. I added a belt for two main reason. First, to obviously cinch and add some definition to my waistline. Secondly, a belt in contrasting color helps to break up the pattern a bit and add some harmony. I have perviously styled the belt and heels here and here

Further, the blazer is also in a geometric pattern, in a smaller size, but also matching the overall color palette of the dress. This bring balance, adds some chicness and sophistication to my look, while still allowing the dress to be the geometric star…think mixing prints and patterns, see here. I have added a shot with a white Moto jacket for your viewing contrast.

Finally, to keep the geometric theme going, I decided on this Mansur Gavriel circle handbag, which by the way, got ruined by the continuous drizzle of rain during this shoot…😡. Needless to say, I am open to your thoughts on how to fix this.

Alternative styling Tips

Here is my take on how you can modify this look to suit you.

  • Throw a moto jacket over the dress. Hey… a moto jacket makes every outfit chic with an edge
  • When choosing jewelry, keep it simple.  Avoid wearing competing statement pieces, which confuses, rather than please the eye. The dress is a statement enough, don’t you think?
  • Because geometric patterns create an optical illusion, best to wear over areas that you’d like to highlight
  • Style with a clutch to focus attention on the dress
  • Alternatively, style with a skinny belt in the same palette for a more monochromatic look
  • Style with a solid blazer in contrasting color, as I did below for a fresh take on your look

What are your thoughts? How else wold you style this look? Whichever way you choose, be sure to won it and rock it with poise and confidence!

See you next week…Ciao!

The print and colour of the dress is lovely and this outfit suits you very well. I think it looks more beautiful without the jacket but at least one has an option. Such a pity that this beautiful bag got ruined! How awful!

I thought it was just me. I usually do run away from geometric prints but they can be the most pretty things ever and I love this one. I realised in fashion, one must be able to take a bold step. Fashion isn’t normal if not we won’t all be inspirational in our own way. I got an eye for that pink blazer. I could go on and on bottom line, you look chic
