Welcome back everyone!
Choker and Ruffles
I am literarily in Love with this
almost monochromatic outfit styled around these high-waisted Palazzo wide-leg pants, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
First, I have to share this story. So, the other day, my daughter walks into my closet looking for a pair of high waisted pants she could wear with a top she had picked out…because she didn’t want to wear her outfit as a matching set…hmmm! Anyways, I offered her these high-waisted Palazzo wide-leg pants, that I had pushed back into the recesses of my closet. She in no uncertain terms, declined to wear them, mumbling something to the effect that they were old fashioned. I reminded her that wide-legged pants/jeans and are making a comeback…yes ma’am! Since Fashion is very cyclical, I’m glad I hung on to these. So, I thought to myself, I ought to feature these pants in a post, and the rest is, as they say…history!
And yes, we do occasionally share some clothing, shoes especially. Well…it’s more like she raids my closet and “borrows” things she likes, but they never return unless I go looking for them. I tell you, if I’m missing any item of clothing or accessory, for that matter, all I have to do is go dig in her closet and…voila!
The high-waisted Palazzo wide-leg pants create a dramatic figure elongating silhouette and a retro chic look. They can be styled differently to suite you mood. However, I love these pair because of the satin fabric and tuxedo look creating a formal vibe. I contrasted them with a cotton to create an impression of a complex look and elevate the style look. You may decide to pair them with a structured crop top for a more relaxed feel or a fitted off-the shoulder top for more sophisticated look.
However, here, I balanced the look with a fitted white top to create a very flattering silhouette, see my previous high waisted outfit here. The top is from BCBG Maxazria…absolutely love the brand for their contemporary fashion forward designs…In case you haven’t noticed, wink. The ultra feminine look of the blouse, with its tailored ruffles and androgynous cuff link adds a soft, yet edgy look to this ensemble. There’s nothing minimalist with this look. To up the ante, I added a pop of color with this DVF clutch, also styled here.
Oh, and finally, for an uber chic on trend look, I tied this black suede wrap choker. I love this minimalist metal tip wrap choker from Pixie Market. What are your thoughts on this look. Let me know by leaving a comment below.
P.S. You may be wondering why I have on silver jewelry when clearly my cuff links are gold toned. Well, the rules for me is wear what makes me feel good. I admit that occasionally I’m careful about pairing gold and silver, but this is one of those times when I simply do not care!
