How to Mix Prints-Ankara Prints (OOTD)

Today I’m styling mixed Ankara prints, and talking how to mix Prints- Ankara prints. So, I had these Ankara print slim pants made for me from home, Nigeria, for those of you who do not know. The outfit was made as a blazer and pant set, however, I decided to play with prints, and styled it with this off the shoulder ankara top made by my sister. I also previously styled this super fabulous skirt she made.

Anyways, it’s made to be worn as a flare top, but my love for waist cinching won, and I decided on this belt which serves to accentuate my waistline, and also help break up the prints to create some harmony…check out this one, and this here.

Further, to add some interest to my look, I paired my look with these Red peep toe heels with an exaggerated bow, and a floppy wide brim hat. Finally, complete my look while avoiding too many conflicting points of interest, I wore this simple chocker.

The general rule to mixing prints is to make sure that they both share at least one color. In my instance, the pops of red in both prints is the standout uniting factor. Secondly, pick prints in the same color scheme, this ensures cohesiveness and visual harmony. Further, play with print/pattern size by combining same pattern in different scales.

Alternative Styling Tips

  • Pair the top with a solid colored pencil skirt to balance the prints
  • Style the pants with a printed blouse and blazer for an office appropriate look
  • Style pants with a solid dress shirt for a chic preppy look
  • A solid crop top will go fabulously well with these pants
  • Alternatively, pair the top with destructed skinny jeans, and heeled sandals

How else would you style this look? However you style it, own it and rock it with poise and confidence.

See you next week loves…Ciao!!
