Old Hollywood Glamour

I have been enamored by old Hollywood glamour for as long as I can remember…I love the classic, timeless elegance, plus the sexy looks of old/vintage Hollywood. It portrays a very feminine, timeless sophistication that conveyed the power of the feminine silhouette. The era of Old Hollywood glamour was a fashion era that both celebrated, and emboldened the feminine sexuality by way of the nipped waistline, wide brim hats, figure hugging and flowy dresses, wrist, elbow, and over the elbow length gloves, including iconic handbags such as the Chanel flap bag.

I have wanted a Chanel bag for quite sometime now…been saving up for one and getting derailed multiple times. However, I’m happy to say that I finally did it! I purchased  my first Chanel handbag. It’s my birthday gift to me, and I couldn’t be happier. Something about owning a Chanel bag…the aura is indescribable…the smell of the leather is intoxicating…the bag is quietly confident, timeless, and understated, but at the same time oozes glamour and sophistication. What can I say…I love it!

Todays’s Look (OOTD)

Today, I am showing off how to wear all black and Slay it! Black is so classic, and is anything but boring. Black expresses sophistication, glamour, and class, such as portrayed in black tie events and the LBD. Wearing all black can also be empowering and sexy. My decision to wear black has everything to do with my desire to give my Chanel bag a befitting coming out…so to speak. With that in mind, I opted for this lace top and skirt by Alice + Olivia. 

I made the choice to style the outfit tucked in cos that’s what I’m more comfortable with…I always wear my scrubs tucked in for Pete’s sake, hehe! Anyways, although an amazing top and A-line skirt, its just a basic black outfit, but here are a few things I did to change that. First, to accentuate my waistline, I wore this gold band embellished belt, which I think really uplifts the outfit from bland to yowza! Secondly, the elbow length gloves add that expected touch of glamour to the look (always)!

Alternative Styling Tips

Looking for how to wear all black and slay it is easier than you think. Here, I have styled the outfit with subtle but loud variations. First, the pearl necklace could be added to solidify that iconic old Hollywood look, being careful to no date yourself…oops! Similarly, the gold choker style necklace is a nod to the classic elegance and glamour of Audrey Hepburn. The coat brings an urban chic vibe to my whole ensemble, but alternatively, add a faux fur stole to up your game!
