Welcome back Lovelies. I hope you had a fulfilling and productive week. Today I’m talking shirtdress.

A shirt dress gives a delightfully feminine silhouette, and are quite easy to style. They come in various styles/cut, and can work with all style tastes. Shirtdresses are classics, and I consider them a closet staple. Easily dress them up or down, as the occasion calls for.
Shirt dresses are very versatile and timeless pieces, in that they are perfect for both summer and spring, and can transition well into the fall, or even winter with smart layering.

Kate Spade Sunny Daisy yellow shirtdress (OOTD)

This Kate Spade, Sunny Daisy, yellow shirtdress is both a romantic and transitional piece. Romantic, in it’s color, floral design, and style. But also transitional, in that its serves as a perfect work to cocktail, garden party, or wedding guest outfit.

I was instantly drawn to this dress when I saw it. I love the color, the cut, style, and most importantly, the fact that it has pockets. It is the perfect vision of summer. Yellow is this season’s…or might I add, this year’s hottest color. I you missed it, see some previous posts here and here

So, to style it, I substituted the black ribbon sash it came with, for a skinny belt to give me some waist definition, and enhance my silhouette. Then, for shoes, I can’t chose this animal print, peep toe pumps that I previously styled here. This gives me an elongated, sexy silhouette.

Finally, I chose a hand bag in an unexpected color of orange to add some punch…yellow does  well with another sharp color. However, I also included photos of another option with a black Chanel bag. What are your thoughts? Leave me a comment, or two, below.

 

Alternative Styling Tips

Shirt dresses are easy to style, but here is my take on alternative ways to style this look.

  • for an on-trend look, style over jeans for the dress over jeans/pants look.
  • Add a leather jacket to add some edginess and toughen up your look
  • Shirt dresses transition well into the fall, so layer a light colored, long sleeve, mock turtleneck for some warmth, paired with heeled booties
  • Style with nude pumps and animal print, or black clutch for a different take
  • Add a boater or floppy hat for a romantic, vintage take

How else would you style this look? However you choose to style this, own it and rock it, with poise and confidence.

    As I am a seeker for all things that look effortlessly chic, this coat became a true staple in my closet. I combined it with my favorite ripped jeans, white blouse and wide heel ankle boots for a casual but at the same time chic look.
