Fall, Faith and Healing!
Hello Loves!
How was your week? I was busy as heck. Between work and family engagements, time flew by fast. Ok, today I am showcasing this amazing statement necklace and Calvin Klein structured dress. So a dear friend of mine recently had a party to celebrate her daughter’s cancer survival/graduation form college. Although, diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, practically, the last week of college, robbing her of the joy, celebration and feeling of freedom from academic demands, albeit temporarily, she did not complain or retract. Even though she was dealt a bad hand, so to speak, she did see it that way. Instead, she accepted it with grace, poise, strength, courage, and Faith rarely seen in young adults her age. Hodgkins Lymphoma is one of the most common cancers in the United States.
By the way, if you haven’t been to a Nigerian party, I suggest you try to, you will not regret it! Let me tell you…Nigerian parties are always lit! Our parties are infamous for starting late and continuing into the wee hours of the night…morning really. We do love to throw parties, and will come up with craziest reasons to have one…these are parties that are well lit for sure!
Also, Nigerian parties are always on a massive scale, we never skimp on food or booze…always free! We are known for our flamboyance, and that doesn’t stop at parties, in fact that’s where it really shows. Rarely are Nigerian parties “on invitation only”. In fact, you as a guest is expected to invite other close friends. The best part is everyone shows up dressed in more than their Sunday best attire.
On a more serious note. In as much as we throw parties for the flimsiest of reasons, this party was different, as it celebrates a college graduation, and most importantly, survival from cancer! This young lady’s unfortunate cancer diagnosis of Hodgkins Lymphoma at a young age has helped create a real awareness in the Nigerian community. As a testament to her unselfish nature, strength of character, and in an effort to encourage and educate others at the same time, she chronicled her journey on a blog, quite aptly named ihaveapurpose.org. You can read more of her inspirational story, and render your support here.
In preparation for this day. I had no idea what I would wear. I have been known to make last minute decisions like that…hehe. Anyways, so I knew I had this statement necklace I had purchased from @chinyeregraceo, and dying to style. Hence, I decided to plan my outfit around this amazing neck piece. Have you ever done that?
Fortunately, I found this dress at Saks Off 5th, at an amazingly low sale price…insert dancing emoji. Although my first thought was to get it for my daughter, that thought quickly changed after I tired it on…oops! The dress has a structured bodice with a thickness in the lace fabric, and a rich fall hue, (here and here) that I absolutely fell for, styled with this superbly made statement necklace, and a new hair Doo, a protective style for the harsh winter months….heyyy! …well, tell me what you think.

I haven’t been to a Nigerian party in almost 10 years. They were always fun though. Viv you never looked better. You are dazzling in my favorite color purple. I love the new hairstyle, very cool and the necklace too, looks similar to the ones I style by Takai, so fab.
