Welcome back Loves!

Spring Chicken?

Hope you had a fabulous week. Today, I’m styling Wide Leg Pants + Plaid Cape Coat. The weather today in Texas, is overcast and foggy, with drizzles of rain here and there, enough to throw one in a downcast mood. In fairness though, we saw several days of 70deg weather last week, which was after an ice storm…yikes! So I suppose this balances it out? Dare I say, its part of the appeal of living in Texas. As Texans know…If you don’t like the weather, don’t fret…wait a bit and it’ll surely change!

Despite the weather outlook, though, I’m happy to say, that I’m finally getting through this sleepy, “fogginess” and sluggishness from jet lag. I have seriously not felt this jet lagged before…I’m obviously not a ‘spring chicken‘ any longer, but this mama has no plans so slowing down anytime soon…haha! Which leads me to ask, how old is a ‘spring chicken’ anyway? At what age is one no longer considered a ’spring chicken’?

Wide Leg Pants + Plaid Cape Coat (OOTD)

Moving on to today’s post. Wide Leg Pants + Plaid Cape Coat. The is a less dramatic version of a cape coat from my previous post…a cropped version, if you will. You can catch the previous look here, which also includes tips on styling cape coats. This version is more playful with the plaid pattern. It’s also, smaller and lighter. I also love that it has a bit of of color to brighten up this foggy winter day. In Addition, the oversized collar adds a little dimensional detail to the look.

Although I love wide leg pants, in this case, I chose it over skinny pants and possibly tall boots. Here are my reasons. First, the fact that this pair is made of wool was huge. Love the warmth that wool provides this time of year. So, No! I wasn’t trying to match the wool in my hair extensions…haha! Secondly, it also allows me to layer on some tights underneath for added warmth. This here lady is no fan of the cold. Wide leg pant also lends a look of sophistication and chicness…huh?

I previously styled this handbag in a post that didn’t/hasn’t made it to y’all…yet. Anyways, I chose this Marella Zebra print pony hair handbag to add a subtle edge to my look. Notice the white specks on my pants? Yeah…its all pony hair from the handbag. I discovered this afterwards…so, note to self!

About that hair!

Yes, about that hair! I am actually having a blast trying to figure out styling options. Because this hair extension is made of wool, it is light weight but quite bulky, making it a bit challenging to style. See my previous braided look here and here. However, to achieve today’s look, I just twisted the front row on itself and let the side cascade down in a water fall, if you will, kinda look. It turned out great…now have to figure out my next look…hmmm!

So, have you tried on, or bought a cape coat since my last post? What are your thoughts and how did you style it? I’d love to know. Leave your comments below.

xoxo…Chao!
